About Palais Des Congres De Montreal
The Palais des Congres Convention Center is at Rue Saint-Antione Ouest in the Quartier International de Montreal, which is on the north side of Old Montreal in the Ville-Marie neighborhood. The Palais des Congres is built above the Ville-Marie Expressway which runs under downtown Montreal, and is connected by the underground city tunnels to thousands of hotel rooms, plus offices, shops, and restaurants.
Palais des Congres opened in 1983 with a distinctive exterior covered with over 300 colored glass panels. The exterior facade of the Rogers and King foundry built in 1885, the facade of Fire Station #20 built in 1908, plus the art-deco Tramways building made in 1928 are preserved within the new design. Palais de Congress has since been expanded to about two-hundred thousand feet of floor space, where the Montreal International Auto Show is held every year.
The Montreal metro station at the Place-d'Armes is within walking distance, and the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Airport is about fifteen miles away.
